When collecting insurance information from prospects, the standard carrier login flow isn’t always the best experience.

Some prospects don’t currently have coverage, while others prefer not to log in to their carrier account. In these cases, forcing a login can create unnecessary friction and even cause prospects to abandon the process.

That’s where Skip Login flows in Canopy Connect come in.

With a Skip Login flow, agencies can collect the key information needed for auto and home insurance quotes without requiring prospects to log into an existing policy.

Let’s break down why Skip Login flows are useful and how to set one up.

What Is a Skip Login Flow?

A Skip Login flow is a customizable link flow that allows prospects to bypass the carrier login step and instead enter their information manually.

Admins can configure these flows to guide prospects directly into the quote data collection process while still capturing the information needed for underwriting.

This feature is available on Elevator and Peak plans.

Why Use a Skip Login Flow?

Skip Login flows improve the quoting experience for several types of prospects.

1. Prospects Without Current Coverage

Many shoppers are:

  • First-time insurance buyers
  • Recently uninsured
  • Switching after a lapse in coverage

Since they don’t have an existing policy to log into, Skip Login flows allow them to move directly into the quoting process.

2. Privacy-Conscious Shoppers

Some prospects are hesitant to share their insurance account credentials.

Skip Login gives them a comfortable alternative while still allowing agencies to gather the information needed to provide accurate quotes.

3. Referral Partners and Co-Branded Experiences

Skip Login flows are especially valuable when working with:

  • Mortgage lenders
  • Real estate partners
  • Auto dealers
  • Referral partners

These partners can send prospects directly into a streamlined data collection flow without requiring them to log into a carrier account first.

The result?

  • Higher conversion rates
  • Less friction
  • A smoother branded experience

How to Create a Skip Login Flow

Setting up a Skip Login flow only takes a few steps.

Step 1: Create a New Flow

Start by navigating to your Link Flows inside the Canopy dashboard.

  1. Open Your Links
  2. Select Flows
  3. Click Create New Flow

Choose the flow type that best fits your needs:

  • Default flow
  • All Personal Lines (Auto + Home)
  • Line-specific flow (Auto or Home)

For most use cases, All Personal Lines works best.

Once the flow is created, rename it something clear like:

“Skip Login Flow”

Step 2: Enable the Skip Login Option

Next, configure the login page.

  1. Open the Login page settings
  2. Enable Allow user to skip login

You can customize the text shown to prospects, but the answer options must remain Yes or No.

Once enabled, users will now have the option to skip carrier login entirely.

Step 3: Require Contact Information

Since prospects may skip login, it’s important to capture their contact details.

Open the Contact Info page and change key fields from Optional → Required, such as:

  • Name
  • Email
  • Phone number

This ensures you still receive the information needed to follow up with the prospect.

Step 4: Add Driver Information

For auto quotes, you’ll need driver details.

Add the Driver page to your flow and set important fields as required, such as:

  • Date of Birth
  • Driver’s License State
  • Relationship to Insured

First and last name fields are required by default.

After adding the page, you can reorder it within the flow so it appears near the Vehicle page.

Streamlining the Experience with Conditional Workflows

Conditional workflows allow your flow to adapt based on the prospect’s answers.

Instead of showing every page to every user, you can display only the screens that are relevant to them.

For example:

  • If a prospect selects Property Insurance, auto-related pages can be hidden.
  • If a prospect logs in through their carrier account, manual data entry pages can be skipped because the data will be pulled automatically.

This makes the experience faster and easier for prospects.

Applying Conditional Workflows

To apply conditional workflows:

  1. Open the Insurance Types page
  2. Review the preset suggestions
  3. Click Apply on the suggested conditions (or Apply All Suggestions)

These presets automatically show or hide pages based on the policy type selected.

After applying them, save your flow.

You’ll notice pages like Driver, Vehicle, and Property will now appear as Conditional.

Creating Manual Conditions

You can also manually configure conditions.

For example, if a prospect skips login, you may want to display manual data entry pages.

To do this:

  1. Open the page settings (like the Vehicle page)
  2. Click Add Condition
  3. Select the property “Is Login Skipped?”
  4. Set the value to True

Repeat this process for any pages that should only appear when login is skipped.

A Faster, More Flexible Quoting Experience

Skip Login flows give agencies the flexibility to meet prospects where they are.

Instead of forcing a carrier login, you can:

  • Collect quote information manually
  • Support prospects without existing coverage
  • Create smoother referral experiences
  • Reduce friction in the quoting process

The result is a better customer experience and more completed quotes.

If you’re using Canopy Connect Elevator or Peak plans, Skip Login flows are a powerful way to tailor your intake experience and increase conversions.
