With a background in customer marketing and partnerships for tech startups, non-profits, and small businesses, she offers a unique perspective at the intersection of branded storytelling and customer engagement strategy.

Our August Lunch and Learn is in the books. Jennifer from our Customer Success team spent the session walking through three things you can use right now: a full deep dive on Trailhead, our new Policy Compare tool, and the freshly launched Resource Hub. She also gave everyone a first look at what's coming next month.

Trailhead: Give Your Link a Real First Impression

When you send a prospect your Canopy Connect link today, they land on the link itself: no photo, no name, no context for why they're being asked to share their information. Trailhead fixes that. It wraps your link in a branded landing page with your name, photo, contact information, and a personal message, so a prospect knows exactly who they're talking to before they share anything. Think of it as a digital business card sitting in front of your intake flow. Trailhead is available on the Elevate, Peak, and Summit plans.

Getting set up takes about two minutes:

  1. Build your profile. Click your name in the top right corner of your dashboard and select View Profile. Add a profile photo, your job title, email, phone number, city, and a short bio about yourself and how you help clients. You can also add links to LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, or any other page you'd like prospects to see.
2. Turn it on. Go to the Links page, click the pencil icon on any link, and scroll to the Trailhead profile section. Select your agent profile, choose yourself as the featured agent, and save. Open the link, and you'll see your new landing page in place of the plain Canopy Connect page. From there, prospects move into the same sharing options you've already set up.

For admins: if you'd rather your team lead with the agency's branding instead of individual agent profiles, head to Settings to add your company logo, office address, phone number, website, and social links. From the Links page, your team can then choose Company Profile instead of Agent Profile on any link. Admins also control what agents are allowed to share on their own Trailhead page — for example, you can turn off social links agency-wide if you'd prefer agents not display them. You can preview exactly how your Trailhead page will look on desktop, tablet, and mobile before sharing it with anyone.

Policy Compare: Side-by-Side Proposals in Minutes

Policy Compare lets you put a prospect's current policy up against a new quote and see the differences instantly: coverages, limits, deductibles, endorsements, and more. Once the comparison runs, Canopy Connect generates a client-ready proposal that includes a premium savings callout, a side-by-side premium breakdown, and a summary of what stays the same, so clients can see exactly what they'd be getting. The proposal exports as a PDF, ready to send. Policy Compare is available on the Peak and Summit plans.

There are two ways to run a comparison:

  • From a submission. Open an existing submission, find the policy you want to compare, and click Compare. Upload the competing proposal, and the comparison generates automatically.
  • Outside a submission. Upload two policies side by side directly from the Compare Policies page, without needing an existing submission at all.

Either way, the comparison takes about sixty seconds while the system reads both documents and analyzes the data. In the live demo, comparing an existing homeowner's policy against a new quote showed a savings of roughly $300 a year; a second comparison between two competing quotes showed one saving the customer about $60 a year. You can edit limits, premiums, or deductibles before sending a proposal along, and there's a history page if you're running comparisons often and need to find one later.

A couple of things came up in the Q&A worth noting: right now, Policy Compare works one quote against another, and comparing a new proposal against a prospect's current policy inside the same view isn't available yet — that's on the roadmap, and it's a request the team hears often. The layout of the generated proposal also isn't customizable at this time, though you can copy the underlying information into your own document if you need a different format. If you have layout preferences you'd like considered, email support@usecanopy.com with your feedback.

Resource Hub: One Place to Become a Power User

The Resource Hub launched on every dashboard this month, and it's available to everyone regardless of plan. You'll find it at the top of any page in your dashboard under Resources. Inside, there are guides, scripts, templates, and case studies covering everything from the basics to advanced workflows, organized so you can work through them step by step. A progress tracker shows how far along you are as you complete each item.

A couple of highlights from the demo: the "Is It Safe to Use Canopy Connect" article is a handy one to have ready for hesitant prospects — it covers that Canopy Connect is bank-grade encrypted, SOC 2 Type 2 certified, and runs on the same cloud infrastructure used by companies like Netflix, Airbnb, and McDonald's. The Resource Hub also covers integrations: admins can go to Admin Setup to connect raters, AMSs, and CRMs, with step-by-step instructions for each one.

If you don't see the Resource Hub on your dashboard, let us know — it's possible your organization has pointed your team to its own internal resources instead.

A First Look at Agent Intake

Jennifer closed with a preview of Agent Intake, coming to the Elevate, Peak, and Summit plans. It lets agents type prospect information directly into a new or existing submission, rather than relying solely on the prospect completing the link themselves. A few things worth knowing already: you'll be able to upload a dec page or PDF directly within a submission and have it parsed automatically, instead of routing through the Canopy Connect link first, and duplicate drivers pulled into a submission can now be removed with one click. Also in progress: a way to generate a unique link for a prospect to fill in any information that a carrier connection didn't collect, expected within the next month or two.

FAQ: Questions From the Session

Is the webinar recorded? Yes. The recording is sent out to everyone who registered, along with a link to register for next month's session.

Can an automatic email or text be sent to a prospect after they submit their information? Canopy Connect doesn't send an automated email or text on its own, but the flow's success page can be customized. By default it tells the prospect that their information is being securely sent to your agency; you can rewrite that message, or redirect prospects to a different page entirely, such as your website or a calendar link to book a follow-up meeting.

Can I build a fully custom link, like a questionnaire for a specific type of client? Yes. Create a new flow with the custom questions you need, and if the prospect doesn't need to connect an insurance account, enable Manual Entry (off by default) so they can complete a form instead. Once the flow is built, assign it to the link you plan to share with that group.

Can the formatting of a Policy Compare proposal be changed? Not at the moment. You can copy the comparison data into your own layout or document if you need something different, and the team is collecting feedback on what a more customizable format should look like.
