Recap: Our First Product Lunch and Learn—Sharing Paths, DecSight Upgrades, and a Whole Lot of Q&A

We just wrapped our first ever Canopy Connect Lunch and Learn, and if the chat activity was any indication, this is going to become a favorite. Megan from our Customer Success team spent thirty minutes walking through some of the newest features in Canopy Connect, and our attendees kept the questions coming the entire time.
If you missed it (or want to share it with your team), the full recording will live permanently on our YouTube channel. But here's the recap, plus answers to every question asked during the session.
Sharing Paths: Meet Prospects Where They Are
Canopy Connect started with one way to share insurance information: prospects connect their account by signing in with their carrier credentials. That's still the gold standard for verified, structured policy data straight from the source.
But not every prospect knows their login. Some don't have their documents handy. Some don't have insurance yet at all. Sharing Paths solves for all of them by giving prospects four ways to share with you, all from the same link you're already sending:
- Connect Your Insurance — The classic. Prospects sign in with their carrier and you get verified policy data in seconds.
- Upload Files (DecSight) — Prospects upload their dec pages and we parse and extract the data into the same format you're used to.
- Complete a Form — Prospects manually enter their information: vehicles, drivers, addresses, and more. Perfect for someone without a login, without documents, or without insurance — think first-time homebuyers referred by your mortgage and real estate partners.
- Contact Me — The prospect leaves their contact info, you get an email notification, and you take it from there over the phone.
The best part: nothing changes on your end. Submissions land in your dashboard in the same format regardless of which path the prospect chooses, with a label next to their name showing how the information came in. Sharing Paths are available on all Canopy Connect plans.
Setting Up the Form Path
Megan demonstrated two ways to enable the form path:
Manually: Go to Flows, edit an existing flow (or create a new one), open the Login section, and enable Manual Entry and Contact Me alongside your existing options. Then add the pages form users will need — Contact Info, Vehicles, Property — and use a condition (Is Manual Entry = True) so those pages only appear for form users. Reorder the pages, save, and you're done.
By importing a template: We shared a ready-made flow template during the session that comes pre-built with the form path enabled, plus contact info, drivers, vehicles, property pages, and custom property questions like roof age, recent updates, and pets. Just go to Flows, click Import Flow, and paste in the template code. (The code is a long string of letters and numbers — if it looks strange, you've got the right thing.)
One note: custom questions and conditional navigation are available on Elevate and above. If you're on the Scratch plan and import the template, the custom questions page is simply removed for you — everything else works.
DecSight: Now Accepting Way More Than Dec Pages
DecSight started as a way for prospects to upload their declaration pages instead of signing in. Based on your feedback, we've broadened it significantly. DecSight now accepts:
- PDFs, photos, emails, and even handwritten notes
- Quote applications and intake notes, not just dec pages
That means agents are now uploading their own intake notes from phone calls, quotes prospects received elsewhere, and photos snapped on a phone. We extract the key data — contact info, vehicles, addresses, coverages — and it all lands in your dashboard in the standard Canopy Connect format, ready to send to your integrations.
Megan demonstrated this live with an auto quote and a home insurance quote uploaded together for one prospect. The submission came back looking like any other: contact info at the top, a policy summary labeled "Quote" (so you know it's not an active policy), full coverage details with limits, deductibles, and premiums, VINs, drivers, prior carrier information, and the original documents attached.
A few handy details from the demo:
- If a prospect photographs their dec page one picture at a time, they can combine the photos into a single document so our system knows it's one document, not several.
- Agents can upload on behalf of prospects: just open the link from your dashboard and submit the documents yourself.
- On Elevate and above, Fetch Property Data still works with uploads, automatically pulling in property details so you can skip the trip to Zillow or the county assessor site.
Integration Enhancements
For teams on Elevate and higher with active integrations, three updates worth knowing:
Smarter sending with a built-in delay. If a prospect has ever added their date of birth or license number after submitting, and that data didn't make it to your system, this fixes it. We now wait until the prospect completely finishes before pushing data to your integrations, so you get the most complete record possible.
AgencyZoom updates. You can now update existing leads (matched by phone number or email) instead of only choosing between duplicate leads or no send. AgencyZoom also now supports commercial policies with full detail, not just high-level information.
EZLynx document transfer. Documents can now flow into EZLynx automatically. No more downloading and re-uploading by hand — just enable it in your integration settings.
FAQ: Every Question from the Session, Answered
Can the Contact Me option trigger an AI agent to reach out immediately? Not directly from Canopy Connect, but there's a workaround: we send you a specific email every time a Contact Me response comes in. If your AI agent can trigger off an email, you can use that notification to kick off an immediate outreach.
How do I check which plan I'm on? Go to Settings, then Billing, in your dashboard. If you don't see it there, our support team can confirm your plan.
Does the AgencyZoom integration require API access or internal setup? You do need to go through the integration setup process — it won't send automatically — but you do not need an API plan. Any plan with integration access (Elevate and above) works.
Does Canopy Connect work with commercial and workers' comp carriers? Yes. We support roughly 90% of the top standard commercial carriers. The general rule: if the carrier offers a consumer login, we can typically support it. Non-standard carriers without consumer logins are the difficult ones.
Can Canopy Connect integrate with Allstate Lead Manager? We're actively building that integration and we're looking for a customer with ALM access to help us get it set up. If that's you, let us know.
When do these changes go live? They're live now. Everything covered in the session is already available, and we're continuing to improve DecSight — feedback welcome.
Can you pull AAA declarations? Yes, we work with AAA.
Can I mark a submission as closed or lost? Yes. Every submission has an Add Result button — the basics are Working and Lost, and a lost submission shows with a red border so it stands out. Even better, we just launched customizable funnel stages: go to Settings, then Funnel, to create your own stages that match how your agency tracks deals.
Is there overlap between Canopy Connect and Sembley? They're different services that work well together. Canopy Connect is where you gather validated insurance information directly from the carrier. Our direct integration then pushes that data into Sembley, where it can prefill ACORD forms for prospect review.
Does this work with Applied Epic? Yes, we have a direct integration with Applied Epic — you'll just need your tenant ID from Epic, and our support team can help with setup. Note that the Epic integration currently supports personal lines only; commercial ACORD creation isn't supported at this time.
Can I create branching flows with custom pages? Yes, on Elevate and above using conditional navigation. For example, add a required yes/no question like "Do you own your home?" and then add a condition to a follow-up page so it only appears when the answer is yes. One thing to know: conditions apply at the page level, so the conditional question needs to live on its own page rather than directly below the trigger question. We have a full video walkthrough of conditional navigation if you want to go deeper.
Can prospects upload photos or PNG files through the form? Yes. Add a custom question with the File Upload answer type, choose which file types to accept, and allow up to five files per question. (Displaying an image to the prospect inside a form isn't supported yet, but it's on our feedback list.)
Where do I edit the message prospects see after submitting? In your flow editor, scroll to the Finish page. You can customize the success message there, or set up a redirect to send prospects to a page of your choosing instead.
What do I tell prospects who are hesitant to enter their carrier login? We have a ready-to-use script for exactly this. The short version: Canopy Connect uses bank-level encryption. If a prospect has ever linked their bank account to an app like Venmo, they've already done something very similar — that comparison usually clicks.
What's the best high-level Canopy Connect training? Our drop-in webinars, held Monday through Thursday at 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM Eastern. They cover the essentials end to end: sending the link, what the prospect sees, the data you get back, and flow customization basics. Anyone on your team can drop in anytime.
