From Two Million to 10 Million Policies

Not long ago, we celebrated crossing two million shared insurance policies. It felt big. It was the kind of number that told us the concept worked—that agents, lenders, and the businesses they serve were ready for a better way to move insurance data.

That was less than two years ago.

Today, Canopy Connect has processed more than 10 million policies. And the number that keeps us grounded isn't 10 million. It's the 6,000 businesses and 24,000 agents behind it.

Where this started

Canopy Connect started with a single conversation. An agent mentioned in passing that she had driven to a client's home just to help them download a dec page so she could give them a quote. In an era where you could link a bank account to an app in seconds, there was no equivalent for insurance. Tolga knew there had to be a better way, and set out to build it.

Six years ago that meant Tolga walking the streets of San Francisco, knocking on agency doors with a laptop and a single carrier connection, building a company from the ground up. Today it looks like a team of 40 people, 6,000 businesses, 24,000 agents, and ten million processed policies.

The two million milestone told us we'd solved something real. The jump to ten million tells us something different: this is becoming infrastructure.

What 10 million actually looks like

Every policy in that number represents a real moment—a borrower providing coverage before closing, a renter verified at the counter, a new insurance client who shared their data in seconds instead of hunting for paperwork they couldn't find, a commercial account where the loss events arrived without a single phone call.

Canopy Connect users got data in seconds instead of spending hours on the phone chasing it down. Verified data, straight from the carrier, structured and ready to use.

When we hit two million, we had around 250 data fields and connections to over 300 carriers. Since then, we've grown to 500+ insurance data fields and expanded our carrier coverage significantly. The platform handles personal lines, commercial, and specialty, and it plugs directly into the raters, CRMs, AMSs, lender, and automotive systems our users already work in every day.

The number that matters most

6,000 businesses made a decision to change something about how they collect or verify insurance data. They didn't have to. The old way worked well enough, or at least it always had. These businesses decided to do things differently. They saw a better process and went for it, for their team and for the clients they serve.

24,000 agents and users made that choice part of how they work every single day. That's the part of this milestone we're most proud of.

What's next

We said it at year five, and it's still true: we're more excited about what's ahead than what's behind us.

When we hit two million policies in 2024, we made a commitment to keep building. We've introduced Sharing Paths so clients can choose how they engage, expanded DecSight to accept far more than dec pages, upgraded Policy Paste to handle more carrier forms and field types, and deepened our integrations across AgencyZoom, EZLynx, Applied Epic, and more. 

And there's more to come.
